Equalize started in 2020 with a focus on training, connecting, and advancing budding academic women entrepreneurs. With the onset of the pandemic, we went completely virtual and have stayed that way in the intervening years. However, we heard time and again from both our participants and synergistic organizations how valuable in-person events are for entrepreneurs building their business, their skills, their confidence, and their network.
In 2024, Equalize offered its first in-person event for its approximately 30 participants in the industry areas of therapeutics, medtech and physical sciences. The event was a huge success, and we’re proud to make this an annual event. Our 2025 In-Person Experiential Learning Day will be on April 28th at MassBio with our 35+ 2025 Equalizers and will include:
- Local investor panel discussion
- Serial entrepreneurs feedback session
- Lunch with members of previous Equalize cohorts
- Off-site visits to local accelerators
- Speed pitch coaching event
- A networking reception with the participants and speed pitch coaches as well as a wider array of local investors, companies, synergistic organizations and other interested parties
